Unresolved toponym. Corominas links it to the Mallorcan Aiamans and thinks of an etym, probably Celtic, *Aginnomantium. At the same time, he rules out a possible relationship with mountain, since, according to the Catalan etymologist, it is located between marshes and far from any mountain. However, this is not exactly the case, as the orography in which the locality is situated, opposite the aforementioned mouth of the Guadiana, shows some evident elevation.
